Is reloading a dying hobby?

I doubt it…that is NOT a caliber we shot or had that I am aware of. We have/had mostly handgun caliber stuff but do you know the specs for the 405 bullet ? I am guessing .405” in diam. ?? How about weight ?
I mean, I’m sure I could look it up in one of the manuals…..but I would need the specs then I would need to look through his molds and stuff.
300 - 400 grain .412" or .413" is the original loading for projectiles I think. The Lyman # 412263 mold has been discontinued for some time. Unless a rare bird pops up on ebay, it may be near impossible to find.

Looks like 2 sold in June and 2 in July on ebay. $65 - $95 each,

It’s 412 or 413 diameter mold. Bullet weight are anywhere between 288 up to 400 grains.

I have been looking for years. Finally found one on eBay. Would but like a couple to try out

I can relate.
I sure wish I had something to help you out….. it is just a round I have no experience in.
Good luck !! I am going to keep a look out and also try to follow your progress on here if you decide to post anything further on it.

I will rummage through his stuff to see but I seriously doubt it. Just being truthful about it.
It is something I just never remember seeing or hearing him talk about but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not there.

I sold my 41 mag and losing supplies to buddy. He thought about sizing down cast 412 bullets and drilling a hole for hollow bad wad cutter type bullet in the 41 mag. Just have to seat it a little further

Well, if you end up needing or wanting a few cast .41 bullets just holler….i will mail you a couple/few.

I went and looked at my bullet molds. Nothing in that range, only a .410" mold for .41 Mag bullets.

On the other hand, I did realize I'd collected 86 bullet molds during the past 15 years. Somewhere I picked up a Lyman 311284 single cavity mold with a hollow point insert.

I also wound up with an adjustable core mold (30 cal) 4 cavity. I don't even have a swager to put jackets on them.
