Ever since I moved here in '93, I was always told by native Georgians that April 7th is the absolutely safe date, so pretty much zero chance of a freeze after that date.

True and since Easter can fall within several different weeks, the date changes on the last freeze. I always always wait until after Easter to say no more freeze
