Item Gone banner- covers up price...why?

I do like the idea of moving it, up maybe? to cover up the description since the description is in there & took you to it in the first place.
Some guys (I've been known to do it) delete the price altogether when marking it "gone".
We do it just to show how powerful we are .

I think deleting anything off of an old sold ad is wrong, because it is your only recourse if the transaction goes awry, and mods need evidence to moderate the situation.

There's probably a better way to do this, but you can right-click on the page, and choose "view page source". That will show you all the HTML behind the page. You can search for "sale price" and see it that way.

This has come up before and I thought it was a bigger change than it would otherwise seem.
I agree, it would be useful to easily be able to see previously listed prices.

Copy and paste into Excel or Word and move the "Item Gone" picture from covering up the price.

For someone that is learning fair market value, it helps to see asking prices before they list an item or make an offer.

I've always wondered the same thing. I can see the price for just a split second before the banner covers it.

At least it's better than the jack-wagons that completely remove the contents of their listings before they close them.
