Jumper cable issue

Okay, I bought these back in '05 and really hate to scrap em. Any of you guys have a cost effective way to salvage em?

Dang! Where have they been? Hooked up to a generator in Iraq in the desert? I've got a set of heavy duty like that which I bought in 1994 and they still look new. You'd have to cut the clips off and reattach them after but you could use shrink tubing on them to get a few more years of safe use.

Cost effective? Aren't cables like 10 bucks...? Probably almost as cheap as replacement leads.

Wrap them with Dollar General electrical tape?

Cut off and keep clamps (if they are worth a flip). Scrap/recycle the rest

It wouldn’t be cost effective to buy but if you have any wire loom laying around, that might buy you a little more time out of them.

Those don't look super expensive but I agree with trgimg to save them if economical.

You can also take some black rubber hose/line and split it to wrap bare spots in and tape real good with electric tape. Cover in wire loom if you want after that.

Those rode on the back of my truck for 10yrs and are 20' long I think, maybe not. I'll probably wrap em in splicing tape, the 3m electrical tape the wire loom/protector. They were over $100 in 05 but it's 4'0 cable. The sun is serious on some Chinese rubber..
