Knife Engraving Machine

I'm looking for some direction from anyone who has purchased and used an engraving machine for both leather and metal. My husband forges knives and I'd like to surprise him with a machine that he can use to engrave on the blades and on his handmade sheaths. Any input is welcome on good brands / models in and around the $350 price point.
