I've had both, and trained with lights, both indoors and outdoors, during the night and day. You can never have too many lumens. HL would be my choice. But I keep a TLR-1S on my G17 that is my EDC, or my G19 with an Inforce APL that I also EDC.
Thanks for all the input guys. I was wondering about the whole "splashback" thing because I had read it online somewhere and obviously I have no experience with a light like this. Looks like I'm going to go with the tlr-1hl
I've had a ton of lights and really like the TLR-1HL for rifle/pistol at the house. SUPER bright!
But I honestly prefer the APL for carry because you can barely unscrew the light and disconnect the battery. This will keep you from running the light on by accident during daylight edc. The toggle is a little more meaty vs the Streamlight as well.
