A dab of blue loctite wouldn’t hurt it. If it were me, I’d use Vibra-Tite VC3.

Green… psssh. P/W that thread protector on. Then fill the seam with JB weld. A prominent gun building scientist from the mountains of Virginia taught me that trick.

No, the thing to do is
STEP 1: Put the thread protector on finger-tight.
STEP 2: Drill a 1/8" hole through both sides of the thread cover and the muzzle.
STEP 3: Insert a 5-40 machine screw, secure with a curved washer and a nut*

* Don't use a wing nut on a carry pistol; it could snag your holster on your draw.

Whatever fits under the thread protector and doesn't squeeze out when you tighten it down. They work great. Adding anything to the threads just makes a mess.
