Hey guys,

My current salary isn't paying the bills, nor allowing me to keep many firearms. I am looking to relocate to North Dakota for work, but am having a hard time getting response from applications. I know most companies don't want to deal with relocation, but I do not make enough to pay my way out there without some kind of solid job offer. Does anyone know anyone who has been out there for work, or who currently is? I just need some guidance on this deal. I am a welder (proficient in all 4 processes), and have grown up running heavy equipment. Thanks for any help you can lend me!

If you're a certified welder, I don't see much preventing you from finding work out there.
I would relish the opportunity to be able to up and move! Miss my younger days!

Im ready for it y'all. Been ready, just don't have the funds to strike out without some kind of assistance! I know they used to offer relocation assistance but alot of companies are shying away from that now. Understandably.

There are plenty of welder jobs out there right now. Check this website out. It does have some jobs in ND and they will even fly you there and have housing. But be cautious of some of these outfits. Over on the left side of webpage there are several categories to search under.

Best of luck to you.

While there are a ton of jobs there, the cost of living and even finding a place to live is very tough. From what I've read and hear, 5-6 men sharing a 1 BR apartment is very common and they each pay a lot for their tiny spot in the room. I was listening to a report on NPR recently that chronicaled a bunch of homeless folks up there that just couldn't find a place to live that they could afford even though the jobs paid well.

There is no free lunch.

Housing near military bases follows the exact same pattern, the landlords know what the soldiers are paid and they set the rents accordingly...
