I would still have it checked at a local PD or Sheriff's Office

No. Already got up with a buddy with PD.
It would not be an issue. Worst case scenario, OP walks into the local PD, asks them to run the serial number, and it comes back stolen. The PD will confiscate the pistol, and complete a report to explain the chain of custody, with OP as the "complainant". Not "suspect".........."complainant".
OP is now out a handgun and the money that he spent on it, but if you're implying that he will be arrested or somesuch nonsense, that ain't how it would go down.

Do all the serial numbers match? Check and make it doesn’t have an incognito switch on it. How much did you pay for it? How many bodies does it have? Box and docs? Was the seller a GA resident? I’ll give you 200$ for it. I have great feedback, and have been on the Odt since like 2011. Anybody that has left me feedback can tell you I’m DA SHIZ-NIT 😤
