I want to do a small food plot this year. It will be in a low light area ( under planted pines) Any recommendations for this? Don't need someone's google search on the matter but stuff people have had luck with. Tilling isn't a problem but would like to avoid. It won't be that big either(10x20) so $ shouldn't be a problem if there is a more expensive route would like to hear that also.

It’s definitely not the cheapest option, but I have had good luck with Durana clover in a mowed out lane between pine rows in the past. Definitely depends on your soil type, but if you can get it established and keep it mowed in the off-season, it can last for years. It will persist through hot summers unlike rye, especially with a bit of shade from the pines.

Food plots are measured in acres.

For a small kill plot just get a sack of 3-way mix from the feed n seed. Wait for a few days of good solid soil-soaking rain and broadcast on bare soil. The soil and seed must boat be saturated, not just get wet. Sometimes that doesn't happen until November.
