Never shot a VEPR. Looks great. Be nice to pick up something different in 54R. Might just have to put that on my list.

Just saw this for a M44, know a coulple of you were thinking about picking one up. Looks to be in great condition.

Got this one yesterday, spent today breaking down, cleaning and refinishing the stock as it was scratched up some(I know, some say it hurts the value but I am keeping this one so I wanted it to be "purdy"! lol

The crevices around the bands are the toughest places to get to-had 3 sizes of sanding wedges to get all of the old finish off in these tight areas. The wood on this one was really nice after I stripped it. I am going to apply a few coats of Truoil later this week to seal a little better and give it a little sheen. Thanks for the compliments, lot of work today went into it.

The only available m44(m53)'s I saw were at J and G.(rough m53's). Classic, Aimsurplus sold out. Are these getting hard to find now? Maybe folks are buying everything even old mil-surp.
