Harrison Road is a no go. I would stay in Byron. Hotels right off the exit . Easy short drive back to Macon. Eating places close by. Much safer than Macon.

The one time I stayed, about 1 years ago was the hotel on the Mercer Campus. Not too bad and even walked across the parking lot to the bar/restaurant.
