Masks in Savannah

Sadly, that's not the case 100% of the time.

My sister was at the supermarket a few days ago when a bunch of guys (without masks) walked in and started running up to people with masks and breathing on them, fake-coughing and sneezing on them, right up in their faces.

They mainly picked on the women there (including one girl in scrubs), calling them 'sheep' and 'baaaing' at them.

The manager called the cops and these a-holes ran out before they got there, but that hardly fits the description of uncaring Libertarians.

This whole mask/no-mask thing has turned into some kind of pathetic surrogate for the culture war when it's really just a matter of choice.

I would bitch slap the hell out of you if you did that to me even if we weren't in a pandemic. The "idea" behind a mask is not to give it to others more than not to contract it. Doing this to a nurse that is around sick people all the time seems like a great way to get it.

Nope. Most non-maskwearers seem to be libertarians. They don’t care if you wear a mask or not. (They might snicker at you at little behind your back but they are not going to publicly shame you).

Mask wearers, on the other hand, are Nazis. They demand you comply with their beliefs. By whatever means necessary.

There simply can not be that many libertarians. ;-). Fat Albert would be running for office if there were that many.

The mask wearers definitely shame more than the anti-mask wearers. But I could give a ****. I usually do what is ever in the majority. In town where I live I wear a mask. When I leave the city (recently Lake Oconee and Topsail, NC) were no one was wearing a mask, I go without.

Like everything else, the poles are becoming so far apart that extremists are developing. Once again....

My wife speaks of bipartisanship and I laugh in her face.

Its the same with everything. Politics, social and cultural issues. I always thought of myself as a true centrist, but youre not even allowed to be that. Its always "fence rider" or "hypocrite". Its a shame because the extremes are rarely correct.

And the pro-maskers are some of the, if not the craziest of all.

Yes, I can relate to the centrist part. We are a dying breed.

However, I don't mind wearing a mask because it is the best thing to do to stop the spread.

A mask does nothing to stop the spread but delay the inevitable. That's like saying that over prescription of antibiotics prevents so many illnesses and then people sit around and wonder where all these superbugs came from. The only thing that stops the spread is the spread.

And since I'm no libertarian, any younger person wearing a mask because of this is a damn fool...

I wear a gas mask. Good enough for sarin gas, good enough for the kung flu. Here I am strolling through Savannah.

I should have used "slow down" instead of stop. The virus is transmitted via water droplets that come from your nose and mouth. Masks help prevent people from spitting, coughing, breathing on everyone around them. It's pretty simple science.
