Color me snobby but it's just lipstick on a pig. RCs are $325 - $350 around here. No need to pay Don Mitchell an extra 500 bucks for faked up crap. To each his own I guess.

If they are $350, I am buying. I just havent seen any RC 98k's here since last year. Any leads?

Good luck finding a complete numbers-matching Mauser out there. Most were captures and re-arsenaled from piles of parts with no effort to retain serial numbers.
Depends on what you want it for...shooting or collecting.
I like the Czech VZ24's myself -Brno factory. Even the contract guns.
But anything with an original 98 bolt should shoot decent. I did have a Turk with the older 95 or 93 bolt, and that was accurate as all get out.
No experience with the short 98 bolt M48's, but do have a "Mini-Mauser" bolt CZ 527 (7.62x39), and that will drive tacks.
