Bulletpaluza has been killing me with tales of a Luxembourg FN49 in a store in Dawsonville for 3-4 months. I finally couldn’t stand it anymore and decided it belonged in my safe. Have never seen one of these in the wild before and fantastically chambered in 30-06. All numbers match, from barrel to receiver, to bolt, to receiver cover, everything.

The Egyptian FN49 I purchased a few weeks back has been returned because it did not have the original barre as claimed....and the replacement Venezuelan FN49 should be in Wednesday. That should keep me satisfied for months....should.

Congratulations on your find!
I have an Egyptian 8mm, with a Century stock. The metal is near 100 percent blueing, but the stock was replaced by Century Arms. It couldn't have been that bad, could it? OK OK, but it had a cheezy plastic butt plate.
After a several year search, I just found an original Egyptian brass butt plate, and fitted to the Century stock. That plastic butt plate was the only plastic part on the rifle and it bothered me. I also bored a hole so the trap door is functional.
The FN49 is a very nice shooting rifle. You should enjoy yours. Dan
