Wife’s car, 2015 Kia Sorento, 80k miles:
Noticed a smell of burning coolant a week ago. It was leaking coolant from the cap. Repair shop checked it out. (Five Star Auto in Athens, they’re pretty good)
Pressure test - no issues. Water pump - no issues. Thermostat - no issues, but changed it anyway. Nothing they can find. No radiator leaks anywhere.
It overheated once a few days ago when driving it. Just the once though.
No noticeable leaks or burning smell for the past few days. Until today. Wife drove it home and the smell of leaky burning coolant returned. Engine light came on today when wife cranked it up to come home.
Any ideas of what could be causing it? Looking for ideas before I take it to the dealership for the $200 diagnostic test. What better place for master mechanic advice than ODT!
