Memphis? Good place to visit?

What do you all think about Memphis? I’ve never been there and wanted to go at the end of December for a little weekend trip. I’ve heard good things about the food there? But I’ve also heard the areas in and around Memphis are high crime and run down? What’s the truth? Is it a good place to go for the weekend? Any recommendations?

We love Charleston, but hated New Orleans. We like Chattanooga, Savanah, Nashville, Bowling Green. Would we like Memphis?

Not a good place.

I went there for Sig Sauer armorer school for 3 days. I asked the gunshop owner and local cops where I could go when I was in town. They all said “back to your hotel room”. Enough said

Used to go there every month for about 7 years, ending about 2013. Can't imagine they have improved life there ..bwahahaha!

I would say FK NO!!!!!

It is a shiite hole and anything worth seeing, ain't worth it anymore.

Ghetto, avoid.

If you do go, stay at the sportsman lodge that is located INSIDE the big Bass Pro Shops Pyramid there. That’s a fun experience and the only way or reason id suggest going. Molon Labe and I did it a few years ago. Incredibly fun time. There’s even a restaurant waaaay up at the top of the pyramid. Look into it.

Otherwise, Memphis is a sh**hole.

We stayed at the Peabody once, watched the ducks do their thing. The brunch at the restaurant there is INSANELY good. Went to Beale Street for music. Had BBQ at Central BBQ.

Wife went there on a work trip and did the Elvis house tour.

Nothing to return for though.

Graceland is cool, see the Peabody Hotel and the duck walk every afternoon. Beale Street is over rated.

Crime is bad, we stayed just outside of town.
