MOA vs MIL

We all know the metric system of measurement is easier than fractions and crap
Military rifles are/were in moa. I feel comfortable with either now. The biggest problem I have had transitioning from irons to glass is the turrets go the opposite direction from service rifle knobs. Not worth passing up a deal on some good glass because its Metric or SAE, can't see limiting myself to either. Thanks all for the input.

I use MOA because I think in inches. Our measuring system is not base 10, MIL does not make sense to me. But, when I was shooting all the time, I could convert mil to MOA in my head. The range where I shoot, dead zero, some of the rso's speak mil, others speak MOA. Gotta know both.

Its also easier, for me anyway, when ranging a target, to use MOA. A window on a house is 36 inches across, just like the entry door, a mans shoulders are 18 inches, a license plate is 12 inches across, etc. I don't really want to relearn what I know into centimeters or meters.

Going to look at the group through your scope and make adjustments? Use Mil. "Wow, my group is 1.5 Mils right - come left 1.5 Mils; 1/10 mil per click, that's 15 clicks..."

Going to measure your group at the target and make adjustments? Use MOA. "My group is 4.5 inches to the right at 100 yards. I need to come left 4.5 MOA; 1/2 MOA per click, that's 9 clicks left...."

Just hold the reticle over. Make said adjustment. No need to over-complicate things. Mil or moa.

The assumption I believe you're making is that everyone is running a powerful optic. I was shooting at 200 yards with a 4x scope yesterday. With my eyes I couldn't see the impacts until I walked to the target.

So in my case I was at the target - Group centered 2" left of POA. 2" at 200 yards = 1 MOA. Come right 1 MOA. 1/2 MOA per click, come right 2 clicks.

The assumption that I made is that you have your scope zeroed. If you go to shoot at 200 yards or more, left and right is wind and generally accounted for by holding and not dialing as to not screw up your zero
