My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary, and treated ourselves to a wonderful dinner at Nadair. We both love cooking and higher end restaurants. This was easily my favorite dining experience.

What’s been your favorite?

Back when I lived in Atlanta I did several of the tasting menu restaurants. Some were good, some great, but I don’t remember most of them for good reasons. Even now I get to do several wine dinners a year and they’re all good but rarely great. But I did 15 years in fine dining restaurants so my standards are impossibly high. I can’t relax and enjoy the meal without looking through the lens of a restaurant manger.

I remember the first time I had skate wing, at Seegar’s. It was amazing.

The single best bite of food I ever had was at The Macintosh in Charleston. Braised beef cheek with onion soubisse. The best meal I ever had was at The Food Studio, in King Plow Art Center. I also remember the first time I had Veal Oscar at Hedgerow’s Heights. I was 13. It changed my world. It’s been closed at least 30 years now.

I recall going to Woodfire when Gillespie was the Exec there. We had the tasting menu. I left hungry.

I like Marcel.

One of the best steaks in Atlanta.
I’ve head good things about Marcel. Also never tried Aria but I want to.

I worked at a Steak House and the only one I’d spend money at on my day off was always Mckendrick’s.
