She made this “swan cake” for one of her friends at work (it’s her birthday).I think it turned out pretty nice.

It’s a lemon cake with lemon buttercream icing and white chocolate feathers.

Yes we are! We try to spend as much time with her sister as we can, she has Alzheimer’s and is loosing more and more of her memories. Sadly she rarely recognizes her children now, but still knows my wife and me.

Well, she kinda changed it up on me this year! Not the usual layered German chocolate cake but an upside down German chocolate cake!!

She did this for living for quite a few years, stopped doing them for the public after she became a full time rural mail carrier. She loves to bake and makes cookies, pies and cakes for family and close friends pretty regularly. This week she baked these two cakes, four pumpkin pies, got two pans of cornbread dressing ready for tomorrow, and will make a big sweet potato soufflé too. I’m smoking three boneless turkey breasts and doing a glazed spiral sliced ham in the crockpot tomorrow.
