So is it cheaper to build an AR or to just buy one outright?

To me its all about the upper.... thats where the quality lies. Get a good upper and the rest is just simple. The rock river parts kits are top notch. I like spikes tactical lowers and their factory stuff costs too much. If you get the upper at the right price then it IS cheaper to build.

Nothing! I really enjoy putting them together myself. Makes me feel like I accomplished something. Its not as fun just going out and buying an AR.
