Need advice/recommendations for a last minute beach trip today

My girlfriend and I were supposed to go to Las Vegas this weekend. She was really excited about it and had been looking forward to it for a long time. Unfortunately we had to reschedule due to the effects of the shutdown on air travel. She was really upset about it so I told her that I would take her to the beach this weekend instead. Only problem is, I haven't been to the beach in years and I have no idea where to go. I was thinking Panama City? Is there a better place to go to the beach this time of year? Any recommendations for a hotel with a nice view of the ocean? Can we rent a beach house somewhere for 2 nights?

I told her we would leave this afternoon so I've got like 8 hours to figure out what we're doing. Not like I waited until the last minute or anything haha. Help me out here guys...

PCB baby! But a lot of places will be shut down this time of the year at the beach

Not really looking for "night life" but I do want to find something right on the beach that is still within walking distance of a few bars and restaurants. I'd like to be able to knock back a few beers or a glass of bourbon with dinner and then not have to worry about driving back to the room
I will 2nd the vote for Mexico Beach. Look at the Driftwood Inn first or maybe the El Governor second. You will be within walking distance of Mango Marley’s which has a bar. Shipwreck Bar is a little further and good for all meals including breakfast. Forgotten Coast isn’t great unless you want Pizza and craft beer, but I would consider that walkable too. Maybe a half mile from the Driftwood inn.
You can drive a few miles to Port St Joe which will have more nice options for food.

In PSJ
The White Marlin-overpriced but the highest end place to eat if you want that.
Beyond that, most places there are pretty good.
Hunts Oyster Bar-between PSJ and Cape San Blas. One of my favorties
Krazy Fish
Provisions-nice Italian with some seafood
piggly Wiggly for provisions.
Next to Piggly Wiggly is fishing store where she can shop for gifts and you can look at guns. Don’t get your hopes up but they do have guns and ammo.

The Gulf is going to be a little chilly no matter where you are, it’s November.

Also, you are only about 30min to Appalachicola if you want to check that out.

Only 30min from PCB if you want to go to Capt Andersons or just miss being in traffic.

Head to Clearwater beach or further south. Anything north of that and you chance the cold. Even there it may be chilly for swimming.

Panama City Okaloosa Island those areas are still warm right now. There is a trader on here that has condos in both areas. Can’t think of his name. Enjoy.

My sister owns a condo in Navarre beach. It's right on the beach. Navarre is a small long Island connected by a bridge in either end. Pensacola is on the West in fort Walton Beach is on the right so there are plenty places to eat and it's a quiet place we're not a lot of hooplas going on. It's perfect for a couple wanting to get out. The condo is not facing the beach but is situated in a little condo unit right on the beach. You can walk to the beach in less than a minute. It's a really nice place to go visit because you have the sound on one side which you can fish in and the ocean on the other side of the island so you're actually between two beaches. If you're interested let me know and I'll put you in contact with my sister. I used to take the kids there all the time because not a lot of teenagers go and raise hell there. It's a scenic Little Island but the hotels are not monster tourist jobs. The condos and houses are small and quaint.

Also Destin is not that far of a drive if you want to go to the mall my mom and sister go to the mall every time they go there.

Keep your money in state, go to Jekyll or SSI. They are closer to by a few hours so more time at the beach.

SSI Grand or Beach club for ocean views, but the walk is a little far.

If more worried about the walk, then the Queens motel is right in the Village but no beach view. 1 minute walk to it and almost everything else on the island.
