Need Advise: Security Cameras and Motion Lights

If you have access to power or the ability to run power to the locations I’d suggest headlined cameras at all corners/approaches for a full 360 view of the residence if not go with wireless ones like Arlo or the like that can be mounted and about every month or so need to be recharged or attached to solar…I also wouldn’t advertise the security that just gives them one more leg up on the casing your house/know what they’re dealing with

Do you have floodlights currently? Ring floodlight cameras are by far the easiest if you do. If you don't and you have attic access to the areas you want to cover then a hard wired system would be ideal. A local hard drive and offline access are always best in my opinion. In my experience battery powered cameras are not reliable.

We have a cheap solar harbor freight spotlight for the backyard (attached to the kids fort), and it is really bright. We have another solar motion light to back porch steps and another at the top of the steps that lights the side yard and the porch. We have another on the opposite corner that lights the driveway and other side yard. We have a battery powered ring cam under the garage that picks up the driveway and front steps. We also have a Sheprador that is a very light sleeper that sounds like she will rip your head off (she won't). With the ring cams just make sure you have a good wifi connection. We had to run an extender to get it to work right based on where the router was and the camera was. Easy to set up and good tech support. We pay a yearly fee for offline storage and the battery lasts us about a month.

I use reolink as well. The cameras are solar powered so no wiring, run off wifi and you can view from your phone. They have pan and tilt options that can be controlled with your phone from anywhere. Any motion detected sends a notification to your phone amd records. Alarm settings too. Coupled with solar driveway alarms, it makes for a nice alert system for outside.

Hello, ODT friends! I need some advise:

My neighbor came over today to talk, and told me early this morning at 2:30, three young men, with their faces partially covered, came up on their porch and knocked on their door (there was a fourth man that stayed out in the yard). The one knocking on the door saw that they had a Ring camera, and they took off running.

So....unfortunately, it looks like I need some advise on Ring Door Bells, security cameras, motion lights...all that jazz.

Please feel free to give me some advise: what works for you, what to avoid, anybody you know in the business that can point me in the right direction. It can be DIY, or I'm willing to work with a professional installer.

I don't know jack about any of this stuff. Nada.

We've lived here 24 years (south Paulding County) and never had any trouble what-so-ever, but I guess it was bound to come to this eventually. Any help or advise you can give us is greatly appreciated.
Ring spot lights work extremely well. We have them everywhere. They are the non hardwired version with a solar attachment to keep their batteries charged.

We are able to see all around the property at any time, call Various EMS turn on the spotlight at the push of a button (it is also motion activated) and we have options to talk to the outside and run a siren that’s built into the camera itself.

It connects to various devices and is great to have around to property.

Respectfully
Chris

Well, after some research, we've ordered the following:

- Two Ring doorbells (one for front and back door). Front will be hard wired, back will be battery.

- One Ring floodlight camera (hardwired) for the front of the house/garage area.

- One Ring spotlight camera (battery) for the deck/stairs coming up to the deck.

I'm going to get that set up and situated, kinda check out my coverage areas/weak spots, and adjust accordingly. We might order an additional camera or two, if needed.

I'm also going to step up the lighting around the house, perhaps some landscaping lighting, etc. Hopefully stepping up the general visibility at night will help be an additional deterrent.

Truth be told, this has been a long time coming, I should have been more proactive. Better late than never, I guess.
