Hey ODT, I bought a new 835 Turkey from Bass Pro (only people that carried it) on Friday 4/28/23 and broke it down yesterday only to find out it that it has several rust spots in the chamber.

Went to unscrew the choke that came on it and it wouldn’t budge, took me about 30 minutes and clamping down in the vise to get it out. Turns out the threads rusted to each other, thus my problem.

I took it back to bass pro this morning and they said I have two options, return it to mossberg for
repair/replacement through them or handle it myself. Also mentioned that doing it myself would most likely be quicker and Mossberg’s customer service is excellent.

When I came home I threw some CLP in it and boresnaked it a couple times then let it soak before taking a stuff bristled brush to it with no success other than the choke screws in smoother. Rust is all still there.
My question is has anyone had this issue with Mossbergs and/or their customer service? Any insight or experience is greatly appreciated.

I took the best photos I could of the issue, turns out taking pics down the barrel is harder than I thought lol.

For anyone who cares, I contacted Mossberg and they’re going to “special order” a barrel and have it sent me to while supplying a shipping label to return the rusty one that’s “new”.

Scattergun or not I don’t want to pay new gun prices for rusted out barrels, don’t know who’s at fault Mossberg or Bass Pro but I’ve learned my lesson when buying new guns. Bring a light and take your time.
