NFA Trust or One shot trust?

The Cliff note of the above statement:

"I don't like what you are doing. It's NOT illegal but it could be. You should spend more money with attorneys and get another trust. "

Sometimes I wonder how you got a book published. Good for you, that's not me but still it doesn't make sense to me. Lol
Makes perfect sense, if you're the lawyer.

So y'all are perfectly OK with lying to the federal government about who's on your trust by temporarily deleting trustees just when you make application to get a new NFA item and then immediately adding them back on, so you trick the ATF into thinking there was only one responsible party on the trust when there are multiple such persons.

That sounds like the kind of trickery and shenanigans that give lawyers the same kind of reputation that used car salesmen have!

But of course if a lawyer tells you something you want to hear, then that's a "good lawyer." I'm sure a lot of lawyers used to tell their clients to make sure to only deposit $9999 in the bank at a time not 10 grand.

And I'd bet some other lawyers would tell their business clients to hire a black person or lesbian just to get the company qualified for a diversity-based federal grant, and then cut that person's pay to a dollar a month and take away all their duties and responsibilities as soon as the grant is approved .

OK, so back 10 years ago I set up a NFA trust with my wife and two sons included. I am looking to buy a new can and don't want to put everyone through the hassle of creating an account and fingerprinting. I talked to a Silencer Shop rep the other day that told me it wasn't a good idea to amend my trust to delete and then add back on my wife and sons, as it could throw a red flag. He said everyone on the trust needed an account that would then be merged into my trust account. Sounds like a PITA. Should I just do the "one time" trust to make it simple? If I do, can I later put it into my regular trust?
Any input is appreciated.

At which law school did the Silencer Shop rep get his JD? The stakes are so high if you fail (federal prison?) that it's unthinkable (for me) to rely on the salesman or anyone other than a lawyer experienced with trust work, and gun trusts in particular. Being able to pass ATF review isn't good enough. BTW, it's my opinion. I don't draft gun trusts because I don't want the professional risk, and few people are willing to pay a reasonable fee due to nonlawyer DIY competition. A local shop tried to recruit me to do it for $25.00/trust and I countered with $2,500. No deal.

I'm not giving the OP a hard time, just throwing a red flag to consider. One other thing to consider is that the Big Beautiful Bill might do away with all that mess (if the reports I read are accurate).

I liked the above post but I want to clarify:
my reading of the original post is that the employee of Silencer Shop was saying to do it the way that ATF would want it done-- if the reality is there's going to be multiple trustees, then tell them that and let your other trustees get background checked.

And, a "silencer shop" employee and customer service representative is probably a lot better trained on the legalities of silencers under the federal law (and agency regulations) than just your average counter monkey at a gun store or pawn shop.

So y'all are perfectly OK with lying to the federal government.

So is adding and removing people from a trust legal or illegal?

I know it’s not as simple as that but they are the ones that allow a trust to own NFA items so if they don’t allow the addition and subtraction I would think they would clarify that. As of now afaik they have not said anything about the legality of this and plenty of people do this every day.

It's perfectly legal.

If you go to his post #14, He explains that it's legal, he just doesn't like it.
