Please, somebody explain the reasoning of why NOT the NRA ! (other than that's what bubba said.)

They have a habit of not going with the most conservative choice (Harry Reid debacle last year). That's one of the reasons. If you call them on it, they will say that they are a one issue organization and they will support whoever supports gun rights, which Reid does. However, Reid is a tool.

I just got a "Join the NRA" packet in the mail today. I am not sure if I want to. I am just not thinking they are really doing much for run rights. I have heard Georgia Carry is a better "group" to hook up with. What's yalls opinion?

You wanna pay people to line the pockets of lobbyists and politicians send them you money and maybe one day decades from now they will defend your rights in GA. Support GCO instead. The grassroots is a much more effective system for getting political action taken care of the state and local level. The NRA has its used but they have become very convoluted in their organizations actions and stances. Support what you feel is necessary in the end.

GA Carry is much better for us in GA.

The only reason I'm an NRA member is my club requires it to be a member.

This should not be the case. I want to join the range here by Valdosta but cannot because I refuse to join the NRA. The only the NRA has done is allowed clubs, ranges, and organizations to draw an imaginary line in the sand and say you are with us or you are not going to get to use our facilities. This form of discrimination is dividing the shooting community into the have and have nots. I have to pay more entry to shoots because I am not a member of the range, I have to pay to park at these events or I can drive 2 hours instead of 15 min to shoot at a more public range. I am sorry but lobbyists are not worth that cost no matter how much they claim to support our causes.

The surprise came when the nation's largest and oldest gun rights lobby, the National Rifle Association, began lobbying against the bill.

Here is just one that would have affected us all.

If your are not a member of the NRA, you have no right to complain about their actions. What are you proving by not being a member?

$25.00 a year....give me a break.

NRA Life Member

Nope not anymore. Now they want you stop taking a printed version of their magazines and go with the digital version which I can't get into that at all. They send you mail all the time asking for money but for what I don't know. I signed up years ago for the easy payment plan lifetime membership. Well all went good for about eight or months of paying the monthly statements they sent and suddenly they stopped coming each month. I have yet to talk to anyone with the NRA who can tell me what happened to all the payments I had sent them. I will not be suckered again...

I was a member for nearly 20 years. I would rather give saf and gco the money now. I sure wish it wasn't this way.

I think they're both great organizations. For the rather cheap annual membership...join both. Any group devoted to protecting our 2nd amend. rights is worth joining.
