Okay I'm into watches again. Post your favorite models

Yeah, that was this guy:

Love this thing
The name sounds more like a cigar than a watch.

Finally broke down and got a damn G Shock. Scored a Casioak model from another member here. I'm gonna have to do that case/strap mod but not with the obvious Royal Oak ripoff pot metal bracelet/case. Probably go with a similar setup but with the rubber strap. That's one thing I have noticed about Casio watches. The factory straps are horrible.

Christmas Casios for all the family
I did that with Skull Candy earbuds for my three kids.
Still don't know how I feel about the whole G Shock scene. Now YOUR watches are legit as far as G Shocks go because they have all the tricks and functions. I didn't want that with mine since I generally hate digital watches. But it seems like I'm missing the point of owning a G Shock. You know like I should have all the functions of the Mud Master. Cool watch for what it is but I would never pay that for a digital watch.
So does any of that make sense at all?

My wife got me this for Christmas....

It's a Tiffany & Co ladies silver pocket watch, made in 1903 that was set in a leather band circa WWI as was in vogue in that era.

It runs, keeps time, and it's crazy lightweight!

So was this done during the era where companies or maybe just independent watchmakers sort of converted pocket watches to wrist watches?

Yes and yes. Some watch companies did convert old stock of pocket watches to wrist watches and some individual smiths would also do conversions for their clients. The most common, like mine, was not done by a manufacturer or repairman, but by the owner. Homemade conversions are by far the most prevalent.

G Shocks are legit. They range up to like $5k in price. They are nearly indestructible, and just great watches.

I have a factory metal Casioak coming tomorrow... Mostly analogue, which I prefer... but just enough digital to make it useful... Stopwatch, alarm, timer, world time and automatic perpetual calendar... Nice balance, IMHO.

I MIGHT actually get some use out of an alarm feature but that's about it. That's why ( one reason) I never wanted a smart watch. I know I would never use even half the features. But more importantly they're ugly and cheap looking. Hell as far as that goes it's the same reason I never cared for chronographs. They clutter up the dial and I don't use the sub dials. One of the best examples of that is most any Breitling. Their pilot watches have SO much **** going on in a small space it's just way too much for me. I'm not even a fan of the Daytona for similar reasons. They're just over the top to me. Only reason I really want a Monaco is that unique shape/look.
Anyway yeah I have been on the G Shock site a while back and was floored by how high they can go.
