Old Hickory knives

To help keep them from rusting, put a forced patina on them. Heat vinegar to about 200 deg and soak for 10 min. They will turn black, this is black rust. It protects against red rust. You will have to sharpen after you do this. Then a thin coat of vegetable oil.

I wrapped these in a vinegar soaked paper towel and then wrapped that in aluminum foil and let sit overnight. Came out decent and much better than the shiny stainless.
