Old Homemade Knives

During my life I have acquired a few old (and very old) homemade knives. My favorite I inherited from my grandfather:

This one has always been special to me.. Looks like it has lots of love behind it.
I found it 20 miles offshore of Islamorada, Fl Keys on a empty homemade raft.

That probably was a Cuban refugee raft. Around what year.

Yeah, we found them all the time.. This was around 1998.

I saw a lot of homemade edged weapons in third-world countries like Cuba. Many people do not realize that the most proliferous battle weapons in the world today are not firearms, but are still edged weapons like the one you found on the raft. Of course, their use is much more often for utility than self defense.

Good point Dread. It's an eye opener when you hit small docks off the Dominican for fuel.
