OK men, I broke my machete today. Had it for almost 30 years and used it extensively. Mine is the 29" OAL surveyors kind. I googled and found many but wanted to ask for personal experience before buying. Anyone here have a good recommendation?

Kinda depends on what you cut...
Ontario makes good all purpose
Condor El Salvador is also an awesome gen purpose
Tramontina has tons if you want cheap but good quality
Outdoor Edge Brush Demon is designed by a fellow Georgian, Jerry Hossom and is a truly fine piece of steel with a great design and very good edge holding

But don't forget Martindale if you are looking for a surveyor style to replace your old one

Biggest thing with machetes is don't get a "chopper" if you need a "slicer"... Cutting light vegetation does far easier with a thin, light bladed but long machete while chopping/survival/bushcraft lean toward thicker/shorter blades. Beyond that, technique is the biggest issue... The ontario 18" is generally a good all around choice which is likely why Uncle Sam buys so many... Reprofiling to a convex edge will help immensely!

Thanks guys for the responses. I have been using my old machete since 1990. I bought it before hunting season that year to clean trails and brush. I have carried that thing many miles and cleared many trails. Sure made me sick when then end fell off. It still has enough length (23" OAL). I just prefer the full length for what brush.

lost my favorite machete abut 4 years ago
never found a good replacement
one thing to check is the end of the handle and how it fits the hand
a bad handle will blister and hurt your hand at the little finger area
an item like this is best bought with a practical feel and not over the internet

Camillus 23” Titanium Bonded® Carnivore Maxx™ Machete

I use this one my son got me, and the 12" Carnivore. They are mean and they carry different length models for whatever application you need.
