Opinions needed - best .22lr handguns - and why?

Depends on what you want to do with it.

I like revolvers because they'll shoot almost anything.... short, long, long rifle.... colibri... blanks...

Ruger LCR is very nice if you are ok with a short barrel.

Ruger MKII, built like a tank. Can be a pain to reassemble after cleaning, but you'll get the knack. Smith & Wesson Model 63 "kit gun" is also a nice shooter.

We have several thousand rounds, probably around 8-10,000, through our S&W M&P .22 pistols. We use them in classes because they are so reliable & perfectly mimic the operation of the larger platforms at a much lower cost to shoot & w/o the recoil & muzzleblast that is so distracting to many new shooters.
They are very accurate as well & feed anything we have tried so far.
