I apologize for the splitting of the posts, but the course information has changed and this post has been updated to reflect that.
There will be an NRA Certified Personal Protection in the Home course offered in Athens / Watkinsville, GA area on 09/27/2014. The cost of the course will be $125.00 and will include all range fees and student materials. A group rate is available for individuals who wish to bring a friend or family member with them. A $50.00 deposit is required to hold your seat in the class. Students wishing to participate in the class should already be familiar with firearm safety and operation. There is a pre-course assessment that must be completed before you register for the course.
The morning will consist of approximately 4 hours of classroom instruction that covers the following topics:
Strategies for making your home safer
How to respond to a violent confrontation
The laws relating to using a firearm in defense of yourself or another
Selecting a handgun that is right for you
Defensive Shooting Skills
Following a break for lunch, the class will move to the range and spend 3-4 hours learning defensive shooting skills. Students should expect to shoot between 150-200 rounds. Students will also have the opportunity to shoot more if they wish to do so upon completion of the course.
