$10 a year x members of this site $720k a year? Is that correct?

In theory, sure. In practice, nowhere close.

As a rule of thumb for most forums, only about 10% of your registered users are actually active. We're above that, but even if it's double (and I don't think it is) that would be ~14,000 active users. From that number you'd then have to deduct those that are already supporters and those that wouldn't use the classifieds enough to think the cost was justified and wouldn't pay for a sub. So no, the number isn't anywhere near $720k.

So let's say that with those caveats, that 14k number is less than half that... Lets say it is only 6k actual paid member users in the end...

That's still $60k a year. More than enough for a nice honeymoon. :-)

A question... if you "made income" from a forum that deals in selling guns... How would the ATF look at that?

Our legal system is whacked and most laws seem to come with unforeseen consequences... Anyone a lawyer, or play one on TV?

Sure, if it was all profit. Server hosting, software licenses, software maintenance and upgrades, etc. on a site this size aren't exactly free.....

Someone asked about that earlier and Okuma said he'd obviously check on it. It's not like this is the first forum to ever think about doing paid subscriptions though. Arfcom and bladeforums are two that come to mind off hand, and they're probably 5-10 times our size at least.

I guess I didn't read where supporters don't have to pay to post in the classifieds(at work and reading what and when I can.)

What would be closer to a more accurate number then?

Yeah, but BladeForums doesn't sell regulated items like guns are. Was just curious... If Uncle Sam can find a way to screw you, he usually will...
