Are any ODT members on here licensed HVAC specialists? I have a friend who's AC unit is leaking through her ceiling; Her house and AC unit are only 2 years old! I went into her attic to look at it and I was shocked at the poor quality of the workmanship. I do not think it was properly installed by the contractor. The company sent someone out today to look at it and he found a cracked PVC pipe; he wrapped it in tape to fix it!

I'm not an HVAC person so I would like for some licensed HVAC installers to chime in on whether or not they think the HVAC unit is installed properly or not.Is suspending duct work with cloth straps normal?

That crack looks like the condensation froze and busted the pipe in last week's arctic blast

That strapping is normal
Condensation accumulating when the heater is in use? I know when I had a new unit installed a couple of years ago they also installed a pump to pump out any condensation, did they not have that in place here?

That pump is only needed when a gravity run isn't an option

But yes, condensation could still be in that line. 2 weeks ago we were running our a/c"s last week our heater and now back to a/c. WThat is definitely a freeze expansion crack
