Question on .380 defensive ammo…. have you tried this stuff?

After a recommendation from my friend, Massad Ayoob, (kidding)…. I’ve been looking at some reviews on this Lehigh copper defensive ammo the past few days…. in the .380 it seems most JHP ammo is pretty anemic…. you might get "penetration" or you might get "expansion"…. but often, not both…. which typically relegates the .380 acp to a close-up "get off me gun"…. except for those that need something small, easy to rack, with a little less recoil….

That said, I’m looking for input from anyone that might have tried some of this stuff…. either the Lehigh Defense or some Underwood Xtreme Defender (using the Lehigh projectile)

What kind of accuracy do you see?
Any issues with cycling/casing ejection/jamming?
What firearm have you tried it in?

Reviews are suggesting it’s a pretty hot round that might give the little "get off me gun" a bit more respect….

Anybody?….. Buellllerrrrr?

I have some of this stuff but it’s “ underwood”? I think is the name. Same design. The ballistics testing looked good. Some vids on “ the tube”.

How did you get your 42 to cycle anything, everything? Wife carries one but only with round-nose ammo due to unreliable cycling with hp or flat-nose ammo. Ramp is polished, but only 100 rounds or so through it.

Take that one back to Glock in Smyrna. I’ve had several G42’s and several more for family members and I don’t recall one issue with cycling. Have ran Remington, Win and Hornady self def loads and the cheapest FMJ we can find at the range.

In my LCP Max I've found perfect reliability with the Hornady Critical Defense for warm weather carry and Underwood standard pressure Hard Cast for cold weather carry. Although my 380 isn't my primary, I have tested it for function and reliability with these rounds and found zero issues. Critical defense is a 10-12" penetrator with Hard Cast being upwards of 20". Hope this helps...

Yeah…. have watched a number of vids on the Lehigh and Underwood (with the Lehigh projectile)…. compared with the ARX ammos…. but have been interested if any of us on ODT had experience with it….

I have used it in my 32 ACP and in my 45 ACP.

Targets only in both guns, it fed well.

Functions like a HP, but is solid and does not have to expand.

Recall the Beretta Tomcat does not like the 32, feed issues, but ran fine in my Keltec 32.

380-

Here is the 45-

Its what I use , and have not had a problem with it mustang & mp and in my 'EDC 45'
bill wilson was so impressed with this bullet's performance ... he bought the company !

Honest question as it’s the second time I see this, and have an LCP Max. Why the warm weather carry ammo and then cold weather carry ammo?
