10/22 with 22" Green Mtn bbl in Fajen Legacy stock and air rifle aperture sights.
Sweet!! How does that green mountain barrel shoot? Any more accurate than the factory Ruger barrel? Is it the sporter taper? I've read some good reviews on them at rimfirecentral.com and have been thinking about getting one for my granddaughter's rifle. Her talo tiger is pretty accurate (she's shooting .5" groups at 25yds with federal automatch) but I would like to tighten it up some if possible.

It's a medium-taper fade-fluted barrel. A now-discontinued model, I hear.
I cannot use it on standard stocks without sanding the barrel channel to create more room.
But it's nothing like the thickness of a .92" bull barrel.

Accuracy improved quite a bit, compared with two standard factory 18.5" Ruger barrels that I had on this gun.
Having a gunsmith work on the trigger and take it down to about 2 lbs. make a huge difference, too.

However, NO 10/22 that I've ever owned would shoot a half-inch at 50 yards. Not this one, not even when I put a scope on it and crank it up to 12X and shoot across sandbags.

That's fine with me. This gun in its current configuration shoots groups less than half the size of the groups it used to produce as a factory standard gun. I'm happy with that. Even if it's more like 2.0 MOA on a good day with premium ammo.

Here's a pic from yesterday's practice session in my backyard.

The two that appear to be flyers are actually from sighting in her new scope. 5 round group at 25 yds. Hole above the bullseye was first shot sighting in the scope, one to the right was her 2nd and she said she pulled it as soon as she shot. Third was in the red and then she put the other four there. And yes she was shooting from a rest.

Here's an uncommon dirty little rim fire rifle. It's a 1980's Winchester 490 "made in Canada". Steel receiver, heavy for a medium barrel .22 LR and to lug around in the woods but very accurate.

I lugged one around as a young teen and any sitting squirrel in 50 yards was DRT.
