This is his current set-up and it just looks sketchy to me, so many things could break.My vote is for a quality saddle setup. Once you get the jist of things, you can be set up and in the tree in the same amount of time it takes to use a climber, plus if you climb up and down while using your tether rope, you are attached to the tree the whole time. If he hunts by himself, he needs an ascender to use with a safety harness for the climber.
This one (Buckshot Bigshot) gets my vote, very safe and comfortable. Mine came with cinch straps that once applied to each section, stand is rock solid and won't move at all. No wiggle of any kind......... and I'm a big, top heavy guy.I had one of those but it got stolen off of the tree - was way more comfortable than the old Amacker it replaced
