My son is hunting a lot of public land while in college and he is using "Climbing sticks". They look sketchy as hell to me. I want to get him the safest, most practical climber out there. Would love to hear some valid opinions. I have never liked the idea of climbers and always used ladder stands or ground blinds. Know several one-legged people who lost a leg deer hunting. I would rather spend real money on a good stand than buy him a new hip.

You have a lot to think about, Size, weight, ease to set up, and most of all comfortable. I would go to Cabela's Bass Pro and look at stands there all will be on display. Make sure to get a easy to use safety vest and straps.

Yea I was going to hunt public land this year and came to the same conclusion. My ass is sitting on the ground. I don’t want to lug the climber into the wood and try and mess around with it in the dark and risk falling.

So bought a stool on Amazon and I’m going to ground hunt.

He said safest.

I also have a tree seat. Really nice and padded. Straps to the tree on the ground. Now days I'd need a heavy duty climber. I'm too heavy for a basic one anymore. Besides it starts getting dangerous when you leave the ground. A nice padded bucket with a swivel seat
