school me on watches

This thread will become more useful for you if you can narrow it down to a price point. Then it's easier to make recommendations or steer you toward something that fits your taste and style. I'd say $500 <, $1500 <, $5000 < Just making a blanket judgement lol...

Also are you looking for a weekend piece or an everyday piece? Like others have said, they're addicting. I only have one watch but it's only because I can only wear it on the weekends or while on vacation. If I could wear one everyday, I'd have more than one watch.

Watches are a very personal thing, meaning the nicest watch in the world won't have any value to you if you don't like it and enjoy it. What's your style? Dressy, diver, etc? I like divers although mine doesn't truly qualify as one.
i am brand new tot his and not even sure what direction im headed lol

probably looking for something between the 100 to 500 dollar range honestly

I like my watches like I like my rifles...

Swiss, please!

Only nice watch I own. I don't wear jewelry so when my wife and I were travelling in Switzerland (this was BC - Before Children!) we couldn't resist.

It's an automatic and has been a great watch to be 12 years old.

+1 For Ecodrive
Also you want to consider bezel diameter. Larger watch faces are more blingy IMHO, but I can't wear them (skinny wrists). Consider how much punishment it's going to take. A synthetic sapphire crystal is super hard and scratch resistant but pricier. Glass or crystal scratches a bit easier but is cheaper.

I guess wearing a watch is basically man jewelry, status symbol for guys with small weenies. At this point my watch sits in a dark safe because if I wear it, it will be destroyed for the fourth time. I'm not about flash and my phone is with me constantly if I need to know the time. My wife is a high end jewelry addict like her mom, they can wear that stuff because they behave like women. I gues a guy could wear that stuff if he lives like a girl.

I have dozens of expensive watches that don't work and collects dust. Some got gold, some got diamonds.
Wind ups, battery operated, or the new tacticool ones with fire starters, compasses, and beer openers, eventually die.
Watches are like flat screen TV's. Price has really dropped by some makers.
So..........I buy on the cheap and when they don't put out, I send em packing.

I wear a Eco Drive or a GSHOCK pretty much everyday. I have an older Rolex that was given to me but I think I've worn it once. Mainly because it is really gold and not really my taste.
