In order to see an entire deer thru a scope at ten yards, it has to have a field of view of at least sixty feet at one hundred yards. At five yards, you should still be able too see enough of the deer to shoot at with such a scope. Just an fyi for those that hunt in the woods and shoot one eye closed.

thats why i want a true 1x variable scope. 1-4 preferably. all you need for the GA woods. sticking to a 3-9x for now until i can free up some funds for a good one.

all i need now is somewhere to hunt lol!

Yep I am in the market for one now. I am just using the steel sights on my Savage Hog Hunter until I find "The Right 1-4,1-6"

this is the one i been eyeballing http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/hog-riflescopes/vx-hog-1-4x20mm/

and only if i can find one cheap enough or hit big on a scratch off lol http://www.leupold.com/tactical/scopes/vx-r-patrol/vx-r-patrol-1-25-4x20mm-30mm/

i used to have a millett dms-1 and that was a nice scope. but for only a bit more, i can get the leupold hog. and can never go wrong with a leupold lol

If you want cheap on the 1x - x scopes, check out the Weaver 1 - 3x, the Nikon Monarch African 1 - 4x, or Primary Arms has a new 1 - 6x out that is getting good reviews. I have personally used the first two, and they are great scopes for the money.
