Scope recommendations

Hey, guys. I’m brand new to hunting and don’t know a whole lot. I recently picked up a Ruger made Marlin 1895 SBL. I was wondering if anyone has any good scope recommendations for 45-70? I’ll be hunting in Georgia and Mississippi, and doubt I’ll be taking any wildly long range shots in those areas. Any advice would be super appreciated, there’s an overwhelming amount of opinions and options.

1-6,2-7 will do what you want. Maker will be what you want to pay and you will get plenty of advice here in just a short

Highly recommend a 40mm at minimum. The larger the better for picking up late/early light to maximize your legal shooting light. Spending a little extra for a company with a solid warranty is also definitely worth it. Best of luck.

Agree with Biker on the the 2-7. I have a Leupold vx2 ultralight 2-7 on my Marlin .44. I have a fixed 4x Leupold I really like on my Marlin 45-70 but those have been discontinued for some reason.

I like the bushnell 1.5-4.5 also for a lever gun and they are pretty reasonable!

Nikon 3-9 40 mm has good glass and don’t break the bank.

I suggest a Leupold due to the heavy recoil your scope is going to be dealing with. 1-7, 3-10 power

A 3x9 With a 40mm or 50mm objective would do fine. Stick with a reputable brand like Leupold or Vortex.
A smaller objective won’t gather as much light during dawn and dusk.

Leupold 2.5x would be sweet and super light.

A quality red dot rifle sight of some sort would be my choice.
