I have me some tactical buckshot too. It seems to spread really rapidly for some odd reason ?

Few folks I talk to are using expanding bullets in their carbines for HD. Most use ball ammo, and a distressing number of folks I’ve talked to use Russian ball ammo.
I see that all the time. I look in their mag and what do I see? Yep tula. Come on guy. One box of TAP or something decent in that rifle would not hurt. Ill keep a mag or two of m855A1 or something but Id like for my rifle round to slow a bit once I hit the fat of the land.I see that all the time. I look in their mag and what do I see? Yep tula. So, only a four inch pattern at typical home defense distances and that's from a SBS length barrel in a weapon that 99.9% of the people out there have no business using because they can't control it.
You're not winning me over here.
Do you think a 5.56 with modern expanding bullets isn't lethal? They deliver more energy on target than a 44 mag.
I'd bet that even among ODTers the vast majority would be much more efficient with a carbine than a shotgun. The nature of the beast pretty much dictates that, no matter how well you can run a shotty, you can run a carbine better. They're simply easier to use.
EDIT: The obvious exception to that is if you are going to engage targets that are at the optimum range for a shotgun. Around 20 to 40 yards.
I use the Hornady 55 grain Varmint. That, the Zombie Max, Black and TAP are all the exact same load and bullet. The only difference is the color and price. The Varmint is typically the least expensive. It also happens to be very accurate in my primary weapon. I keep about 20 mags filled with it.Georgia Arms loads some excellent copies of some of the TAP loads, with all new components. Easier to get and much cheaper. I used to use their 60grn VMAX load as my serious ammo.

I like the TAP ammo just cause the box is all tactical and stuff.I use the Hornady 55 grain Varmint. That, the Zombie Max, Black and TAP are all the exact same load and bullet.
