Snake Gun... Judge or 357?

I am debating between a Judge and a 357/38 revolver with rat shot for snakes...


Judge: polymer shooting 410

357/38: likely Taurus for the price with rat shot


Any suggestions or knowledge between preferences would be greatly appreciated.

What would keep you from using a 22?

Easier to hit with shot as long a you're close enough. I suspect more pellets in a 410 ? I assume 45LC is also an option in the Judge, that'll stop one as well !

I'd rather only carry 1 pistol with me. Rather have a larger caliber that I can shoot led with also. I love 22/22mag, but I'd feel more comfortable with a larger caliber if I have to use it to put down a deer.

22lr will dispatch a deer, no problem. That is all we use for hogs.

I keep mine loaded with PDX1, that should disable most anything I aim at if I can get close enough.......

Find a double barrel duck town pistol they're pretty good snake guns for the money

I have never had a problem with snakes, even after living down in Marshallville GA in the early 70s and we had snakes everywhere down there.
I can't imagine having to buy a gun specifically for snakes. Can't you just carry a long stick?
