So talk me out of an AR-10

My very first AR was an Armalite AR10. I love shooting it and I shoot it well. You have a ton of options now as far as manufacturers go. It is a fun rifle. Just get one.

Compared to my 300 blackout, I find it pretty reasonable actually.

Yeah I don't even understand why 300 blackout is so popular. It is a good round, but way overrated for the price.

What of broken bolt catches? Any one have issues with that? Is it a brand specific thing or a platform issue?

I have personally had a broken KAC bolt catch (one of the top tier manufacturers) and have seen quite a few other from misc brands. If its a MIM part, you could see failures at random, but also see failures from dry firing a lower without an upper installed (impact of the hammer).

Again though, I really think it is a non-issue for the most part. I would not worry about it.
