So what’s the deal with pre lock?

For me, it's not political or driven by fear of mechanical failure or even a desire to be "old school", although admittedly I am becoming more so - I personally think it's ugly as sin and detracts from the aesthetics of an otherwise fine firearm.

Yeah, I think the arguments were predictions that the locks would fail and MIM parts would break, that of course never actually panned out. But gun guys are really stubborn and once a notion is stuck in their heads, its stuck good! haha

Now keep in mind that this is MY OPINION. We all have them and they all stink. I think you are being intentionally obtuse. I think you are a FUDD. I think you like that slippery slope. I think you should sell all your guns. Have a nice day.

The lock is a potential point of failure. If you can't find any documented failures, it's bc you aren't looking.

If you don't feel like it has the potential to fail on you at the worst time possible, go for it. But don't criticize others who don't want the possibility of a lock failure.

It's possible to get hit by a meteor, but I don't really worry about it...

Look dude. Your thread asked a question. "What gives?" You got all the answers you need and yet you want to keep arguing. Next time title your thread "I want to talk to all you ppl who don't like locks on your revolvers and tell you why you're all wrong." BC that's exactly what you're doing here.

So do you want answers or do you just want to argue?

Nah, I got what I was looking for and what I thought was the case, was largely confirmed. It's all good.

Let's simplify this. You can't really mitigate against getting hit by a meteor but you can use risk management to mitigate against having a lock failure by not buying a gun with a lock.

No, that's what I have meteor insurance for, silly. :-)

Seriously though, I thought maybe I was missing something and that there was more to the story, maybe high incidents of failures that my searches failed to uncover. There weren't. Turns out it is just personal preference and ideological/political based... And that's fine, it is what it is...

Even ONE failure is one too many. And there have been more than one.
