So who all rides motorcycles?????

My ride today got off to a great start... Did my pre-flight check, cleaned chain, tire pressures, etc... I roll it off the lift, and the kickstand was down, it caught and kicked the bike towards the side that I wasn't standing on, and the bike falls off the lift and smashes onto the right side. Smashed the tail plastics, the brake light assembly, bends the rear brake lever, broke a tab off the sub-frame that secures the brake light assembly, and roughed up one of the lower fairing covers...

It all happened in the span of 3 seconds... I am all geared up, I am like let's do this, BANG... WTF just happened???

One simple mistake cost me almost a grand before I even got out of my garage... SMH
Sorry to hear it. Which bike was this?

2024 Ducati Streetfighter.

Luckily, the solo seat cowl kit that got smashed... I had the original tail and the passenger seat so I tossed that on, but the part that got smashed was $450 just by itself... Brake light assembly was another $200... The fairing panel is $300 if I can't repair it... Also bent the rear brake pedal but I was able to bend that back...

Just so annoying, and it was 100% my fault... Felt like such a dick, and it kinda set the tone for the day...

Get up to the mtns and two gas stations in a row only had 87 octane, which I can't use without risking damage to the bike... And I used up my entire reserve to get to the second place... luckily they had one bottle of octane booster on a shelf in the back or I would have had to send a body 15 miles each way to come back with 93 octane...

Good ride in the end, but it was really annoying for the first half...

I'm sorry for your loss. It's happen to all of us at one time or another. Doesn't make it any easier

Yeah... As I see my brand new bike falling off the lift and smashing onto the concrete... At first you are like stunned... I was like, "There is no F'ing way that just happened"... lol

Ahh well, it's just plastic and parts... much better than crashing, in my experience. :-)

Had a killer ride, I am sore AF today... I will put up a video of our run down Wayah Rd in NC later on... Not a super fast run, as its very technical and I don't know it very well, but I think its better than the Dragon in a lot of ways...

Europe premium is 88 octane.

Yeah, but they rate theirs differently than we do... I am not willing to risk an $18k bike and have them void my warranty because I put 87 in there and got detonation and damaged something... I put a gallon in and kept the revs and engine load low down Rt28 to get to the dragon store, where they had 93 and I could fill back up with that...

With the day I was having, I wasn't going to press my luck...

Amen to that

As is tradition with any fun vehicle in my possession, it has to make at least 1 voyage to Deal's Gap. Today was the GSX-R600's turn.

My original plan was to set out at 0600, but a laundry error on my part last night left me wandering around the house for a bit this morning. 🤦‍♂️

Start Time: 0930
Start Odometer: 1,187

End Time: 1730
End Odometer: 1,502

Total Time: 8 hours
Total Mileage: 315

Beautiful weather. Light traffic both to/from and on The Dragon itself. Odd for a day like today. 🤔

I hear ya on the day and all. But unless you have some kind of power adder or a built Moto with 14-1 compression you will not hurt it for a time. Maybe after an extended period, maybe.
But I worried about my Mercedes until I looked it up. 1 octane is not going hurt a thing.

I totally agree on Wayah rd . I like it better than the Tail too.
