Chicken.I know but I didn't measure the OAL. I just figured 20" was short enough.

I used to have a gunsmith cut my old double barrels to 18 1/8" and sight bead reinstalled. If you cut it to 18.5" would the overall length be too short? Because 18" is the minimum length.
One of the coolest guns I ever owned....or so I thought in my 20's....was a double barreled Stevens (I think) el cheapo that I got at a pawn shop for less than $100. I used a hacksaw (yup) and cut the barrels down to 18.5" and cold blued the ends after some sanding to straighten and plumb them out. Took the stock off and cut it down and shaped it into mare's leg-ish/ pistol grip. I thought it was the baddest thing around. And then I took it to the range and shot it from the hip and dang near broke my wrist. Sold it at a gun show a month or so later and doubled my money.I used to have a gunsmith cut my old double barrels to 18 1/8" and sight bead reinstalled.
Well I ain't fittin' to gamble my freedom ( and my dogs lives)on the accuracy of my Walmart tape measure. So I ain't tryna' cut it too close.I used to have a gunsmith cut my old double barrels to 18 1/8" and sight bead reinstalled.
You really are one of the funniest people on this forum, man. Make me laugh almost everyday.Well I ain't fittin' gamble my freedom ( and my dogs lives)on the accuracy of my Walmart tape measure. So I ain't tryna' cut it too close.

What you're describing is THE shotgun I've wanted since my early teens. And last year(ish) I traded into an OLD Ithaca side by side 12. I did cut several inches off of it. I even borrowed a portable band saw to get a straight cut. Well...I got a nice clean cut but it was anything but straight. I filed on that sumbitch for days. I dabbed the cold blue on the finished product. I can't bring myself to cut the stock down. That wood is old and probably fragile as hell. One of the coolest guns I ever owned....or so I thought in my 20's....was a double barreled Stevens (I think) el cheapo that I got at a pawn shop for less than $100. BTW... you also described the experience I had shooting the Shockwave 12 I inherited. Holy ****! I loaded 5 rounds fired 3 and unloaded 2. NOT a fun gun to shoot. It's kinda like a modern day wall hanger. One of the coolest guns I ever owned....or so I thought in my 20's....was a double barreled Stevens (I think) el cheapo that I got at a pawn shop for less than $100.
