Reading this tread made me pull out the two older 16 gauges I have. The one on the left is a central arms co from St. Louis 30” barrel to the break. The one on the right is a Fulton arms co. 32” barrel to the break. I am in search of a hinge bolt for the Fulton at the moment. Has a lot of play

Broke it down this morning and dropped the parts in a pan full of vinegar. So far it's done a pretty decent job of stripping off the old bluing. Probably gonna have to paint it since there's permanent rust spots that will show through cold blue solution.

I was just saying this to someone yesterday about 10 gauge shells. Can’t find 10 anywhere, and 28 is everywhere. And I’ve never seen a 28 gauge in person. Lol.

Okay y'all here is the pretty much finished project. I finally found a shop that would weld the SKS sling swivel to the underside of the barrel. I had already stripped the barrel with vinegar and Brillo pads. The welding shop painted the swivel gloss black. So that made my decision between spray paint and cold blue a lot easier. I cleaned the receiver up as good as I could but didn't paint it. I think it was originally color case hardened and didn't wanna cover that up. More importantly I didn't wanna get paint down in the action.
Sanded the wood down with 3M sanding sponges. Cleaned it with alcohol and sprayed it with satin clear. Now I just gotta get some kinda front sight.
Not crazy about the stiff ass western looking sling. So I might change that out for a canvas M1Carbine style or a leather M1 Garand style.
