Store Owner Shoots and Kills Shoplifter Walking Out The Door

Even if the shoplifter is stealing a GUN, a pistol that is obviously a WEAPON and not an item of sports equipment, you can't shoot him because of your speculation that maybe he has plans to use that weapon to hurt some other innocent person in the future.
If he's already tucked that weapon in his backpack and zipped up the compartment, or if he stole the gun IN THE BOX, and he's running out of the store with the plastic clamshell box plainly marked "GLOCK" in his hands, you STILL can't shoot him and say you did it to save innocent lives that he would have could have might have endangered later.

Until he brandishes it as a weapon, or other circumstances show that any REASONABLE PERSON would know he's about to use it, you have to consider that gun (or that machete, that axe, whatever) to be just an item of store inventory worth XYZ dollars.

(P.S. In Georgia, shoplifting a gun is always a FELONY. Any sort of stealing of a gun is a felony, regardless of dollar value. But shoplifting is not a "forcible felony." )
