"The fact that the receiver isn't marked '5.56' isn't a problem. You can run 5.56 through a .223 marked gun with no issues at all. It's the same round." -- Dealer trying to sell me a Mini 14.
I was just happy to grab a brick of Federal .22's for $80, while I could still get them.
LMAO!!I am not a felon
Not to be rude but....from the owner's manual:
The RUGER® MINI-14® RANCH RIFLES are chambered for the .223
Remington (5.56mm) cartridge. The Ranch Rifle is designed to use either
standardized U.S. military or factory loaded sporting .223 (5.56mm) cartridges
manufactured in accordance with U.S. industry practice. See “Ammunition
Notice” & “Ammunition Warning”, below.

wow, that is ****edI was a young buck when I once saw a licensed dealer take a pistol off his table, sneak up behind another dealer in their booth space, put the gun in his back and say, "stick up". I was beyond shocked. I'd never seen ANYONE do anything that stupid with a firearm.
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to shoot what's stamped on the receiver, especially since I personally witnessed a catastrophic failure of a Ruger Mini 14 that was shooting green tips!![]()
