Stupid things you have seen or heard at gun shows!

The last Jonesboro show I was looking at a M1A in FDE Scout for $1499. When I asked the dealer if he had a black Scout his reply was the FDE was a rare color combination in the Scout and he was lucky to get it. I came home and searched GB, and saw several for sale. Not rare at all. Typical dealer.

"The fact that the receiver isn't marked '5.56' isn't a problem. You can run 5.56 through a .223 marked gun with no issues at all. It's the same round." -- Dealer trying to sell me a Mini 14.

Not to be rude but....from the owner's manual:

The RUGER® MINI-14® RANCH RIFLES are chambered for the .223
Remington (5.56mm) cartridge. The Ranch Rifle is designed to use either
standardized U.S. military or factory loaded sporting .223 (5.56mm) cartridges
manufactured in accordance with U.S. industry practice. See “Ammunition
Notice” & “Ammunition Warning”, below.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to shoot what's stamped on the receiver, especially since I personally witnessed a catastrophic failure of a Ruger Mini 14 that was shooting green tips! :)

I was a young buck when I once saw a licensed dealer take a pistol off his table, sneak up behind another dealer in their booth space, put the gun in his back and say, "stick up". I was beyond shocked. I'd never seen ANYONE do anything that stupid with a firearm.
wow, that is ****ed

Not going to get into the innernet infowar on this topic but there are too many unknowns in that statement to definitively state the failure was due to the use of 5.56 NATO ammunition.
